Fidakia

Back to the Village as once it was!

At a distance of only 25km from the capital of Evritania, Karpenissi, is the village Fidakia which is the most beautiful villages of Central Greece. The name of the village do not know where it comes together with other writing (i) and elsewhere writing Fidakia with (ei) as Feidakia.
The village has existed since ancient times, and have found a lot of ancient objects from the home and suspected that perhaps this is the ancient Achilles Fthia. The Fthakia as called local people from there becomes final Fidakia. So far no one can determine the position of ancient Fthia and neighboring town of Greece.

The Fidakia is a traditional village which is built at an altitude of about 1000m and NW a radius of 900 meters is a hill where Bones found human bones at times. Nobody knows when there might be a great battle took place without knowing anything more.
Down low, three kilometers northwest the village is the castle. This is a strategic hill 320 meters altitude east of the river Megdova. There we find the ruins Pelasgikis fortifications. The NW to the river side of the cliff is, the NA was built with fortified walls. The perimeter is calculated at 700 meters. There were many ancient tombs and ancient objects. K. Stergiopoulos places here ancient Oichalia which was the first capital of the prefecture of the broader country Evritania.
NA Kastri is the small neighborhood Vamvakia between the castle and the village, Isomata. Isomata was the largest settlement against the other settlements of the village. Today is completely abandoned to the mercy of nature. The houses are literally smothered in Kissos, the passage is difficult to impossible. South entrance of the village, there is the old church of St. George and the old School!
The people of Fidakia not forget the Saints, who maintain and honor each year. Sella, Milia and Goliani referred to as "the Balkans" and together with the village of Vlacherna, with the capital Fidakia.
What is certain is that Fidakia may qualify as capital of beauty, not only of neighboring villages, but the whole of Greece. It was dry to speak with words to describe the unique beauty of the village. We will let the pictures themselves speak. For one thing we are confident that after your visit to the village, is sure to review many of your views about life and will stay unspoken from what you experienced.
